"Bimbocore": a subgenre of metalcore with feminist themes.
Scene Queen took to the stage at Bristol SWX before heading to London to complete her UK tour, Bimbos Beans & Toast. Supporting acts included Delilah Bon and In Her Own Words.
Hannah Collins, better known as Scene Queen, rocked the roof off of Bristol SWX on Sunday night after having to upgrade her show from the Thekla due to popular demand. After signing with Hopeless Records in 2021, her debut EP Bimbocore was released in April 2022 and was soon followed by a Bimbocore Vol. 2 in November 2022.
As fans waited patiently for her to bounce onto stage, they were greeted with a burst of bright pink set. Delilah Bon opened the show who describes their music as punk-fuelled hip hop. They were the perfect opening act to get the crowd going with their political feminist lyrics. Throwing all their energy into each song harder and harder, their bratcore vibes pumped up the crowd from start to finish.
Belting out songs such as Brat, I Don't Listen To You and Dead Men Don't Rape, Delilah Bon had the crowd at their feet and wrapped around their fingers. If you didn't know who Delilah Bon were when you entered that venue, you certainly did when you left. The impression they left was unforgettable.

The second support act was none other than In Her Own Words, fronted by Joey Fleming. The quintet rocked the stage with alternative punk songs that make you want to jump for the entire set. That didn't stop the crowd from taking it one step further as In Her Own Words saw multiple crowdsurfers fly their way over the audience towards the front of the stage.
Joey Fleming took a few minutes from their set to thank the audience for being so welcoming considering they were a male-dominated band at a concert which was majority female-dominated. Performing discography like Lights Out, Silver Lights and Serotonin, In Her Own Words were able to further pump up the crowd ready for the queen herself.

Last but certainly not least, the queen herself bounded onto stage in a bright pink outfit. Opening her set with Pink Whitney, Scene Queen had the crowd hyped up from the get-go. There were pink cups, pink paddling pools and pink ballpits surrounding her on stage as she continued into Pink Paper and Pink Bubblegum. The crowd welcomed her with open arms to Bristol as they continued to throw themselves towards the front crowdsurfing.
Scene Queen made sure to involve everyone in her set. She got down and met the front row by shaking all their hands and made her way over to the accessibility area to continue interacting as she performed. The hit that introduced Scene Queen to many was played fourth on the setlist, 18+. She made it known that she was not afraid to call out bands and scenes that were inappropriate to fans and the crowd were in agreement with her through screaming.
Her other popular hit, Barbie and Ken, originally in collaboration with Cody Carson, was sang towards the end of her set as Joey Fleming rejoined her on stage. With her stage layout being very pink, her outfit being very pink, and her setlist having many songs with pink in the title, the audience were given the brightest and boldest performance in Bristol on that Sunday night.
